Les 3 Ours (The 3 Bears) was a run down 5 bedroom chalet in need of a full makeover. The chalet had undergone a series of extensions over the years, leaving behind mismatched paint jobs, questionable wallpaper and an uneven floor throughout the upstairs. The ceiling was very low, there was a tiny staircase and no fully functional bathroom.
I appointed a building team who knocked through and rebuilt the entire top floor creating 4 bedrooms, one ensuite and 1 main bathroom. We levelled the floor and raised the ceiling which created a lot more light and the feeling of space.
We replaced the old staircase with a new wider one with metal bannisters and glass panelling to give a more contemporary and spacious feel.
The entire ground floor was refurbished in a contemporary style in keeping with the decor of the new bedrooms and bathrooms. Clean lines and a simple palette of tonal greys worked well with the natural stone and wood throughout the chalet.
For the main bathroom we created a bespoke design for the wash stand, using an asymmetric floating piece of wood and a basalt sink for a more luxurious finish.
All the upstairs bedrooms are painted in complementing tones of grey which is in keeping with the contemporary feel of the chalet. The 5th bedroom is in the basement and is decorated in a more traditional chalet style with vintage skis on the wall creating a cosy log cabin vibe.
